Dundee City Council's Education Department is committed to developing effective learning for all pupils at all stages. Our flagship 'Learning Together in Dundee' policy places a strong emphasis on Achievement, Ethos and Partnership as the way forward for education in our schools.

The Education Department provides high quality learning and teaching for all learners, from pre-school provision through to support for young people entering higher and further education and the world of work. There are 8 secondary schools, 35 primary schools, 1 special education school and 8 nursery schools operated by Dundee City Council.

The city-region offers a range of independent schools from day to boarding for junior to senior pupils. The High School of Dundee is an independent day school is situated in the city centre of Dundee offering a co-educational environment from junior to senior pupils.
